Chris Gauss

It is with deepest sympathy that we must announce the death of founding member Christopher Gauss of the Maryland Fire and Explosive Investigators Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators (formerly the Maryland/District of Columbia Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators).

Chris is a retired Commander of the Baltimore County Fire Department Fire Investigation Unit. He has been nationally known throughout the fire investigation community since the 1980’s teaching fire investigation courses at the Catonsville Community College, the University of Maryland, the National Fire Academy and at various departments, chapters and insurance groups across the country. Chris was also our Chapter’s Certified Fire Investigator (IAAI-CFI) test proctor for over thirty years, testing the vast majority of our local certified fire investigators.
